ABSTRACT
This thesis presents AsyncAPI Query Language (AAQL), a language for querying AsyncAPI documents. AsyncAPI is a well-established format for describing eventdriven services, based on JSON and YAML. AAQL is designed with syntax similar to SQL and supports querying the most commonly used fields of AsyncAPI (with complete syntax coverage for AsyncAPI documents) as well as the semantic annotations proposed in AAQL to enrich the representational power of AsyncAPI. A Web service capable of executing AAQL queries was implemented. This service stores metadata for each description and executes the queries on metadata to avoid the overhead of expensive join operations. It builds indexes to speed up queries, can handle composite Schema objects, and uses reasoning to support searching on semantic models referred to by AsyncAPI properties. AAQL demonstrates almost real-time performance on a test database with 20,332 AsyncAPI documents even for complex queries combining more than one property. Compared to OAQL2, the system designed for OpenAPI, AAQL is a query language designed for the event-driven domain, introducing new tables such as Broker, Channel, Message and MessageContent.
