Such a blob makes the working tree permanently dirty (git checkout cannot repair it; the defect is in the stored object) and is normally invisible until something touches the file, at which point a tidy-up can mistake it for uncommitted work and discard it. Content provably unchanged: git diff --ignore-cr-at-eol empty across 945 line-terminator-only lines. This was the only violation across all 16 main-tree-guarded repos. See #52.
